About Me
Colby Gwyn-Williams comes to photography by way of a slightly “out of focus” path. An avid equestrian, Colby was competing in Germany when an accident forced her to place her riding dreams on hold. After breaking her back and leg and spending a month in a German hospital, she returned home to a year of intense physical therapy to get herself completely mobile.
Not one to “lay around the house,” Colby decided that water activities would strengthen her muscles without placing undue pressure on them. She managed to obtain her Diving Certification and bought herself an underwater camera.
She took the time to travel throughout Hawaii, California and the Cayman Islands taking as many underwater photos as she could while she was working to strengthen her body.
When Colby returned to Key West her photos captured the interest of local citizens who asked if she would consider taking photos of their pets. Out of this small audience came the idea for the “Dogs of Key West” calendar series and her full-fledged business “Paw Print Imaging, Inc.” that she developed with her friend and physical therapist, Sinead Imbaro.
