recently I have had a lot of people asking me if its possible to make a living in photography. I mean we all say at some point that this is unrealistic, that we are just ‘dreaming’. But the answer is YES! You can make a living doing this stuff!

Keep Your Eye On The Ball

while posed shots are nice to have, you should try catching your pet in candid situations.

Something to consider:

I will always take a better photograph of your child than you will!

Not because I’m a better photographer than you, or because I have more or less experience than you. Its all because of this very simple reason. When a child (or a pet) sees something that excites them and they perk up to look.. of times, you (the loving parent) look as well to see what they’re looking at. The photographer, however, doesn’t care what the subject is looking at, because we’re busy hitting the shot!

Catch them when they don’t expect it. Catch them sleeping or when they are playing. If you try to hard and focus too much getting the perfect shot, you won’t have fun. Believe me, your success in this business RELYS on your attitude! This is one of the most important secrets you will get…. Ready?

All the tips were like you knew what I wanted and needed to know to get started. As a new Pet Photographer, I was afraid to take the next step, that leap of faith. Then I just bought your book. Can I just say you are UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! I am so glad that I found you. You have been a blessing to me and my new business venture. I just started, and I have gained so much confidence since I met you and read your book. Great job Colby. Whoever reads this I recommend you get the book! Don’t waste your time trying to find something better, because you won’t! TRUST me!

This is my 1st entry. I have been in love with photography for the last 10 years. My favorite are photos of animal and nature. This one was taken in Yosemite park several years ago. When I saw it I immediately new that this is an amazing one and that I will love it forever. I hope you will enjoy it as much I do every time I look at it.

Lightning Show – Key West

One night there was this amazing lightning show out over the cudjoe bay in he Florida Keys. I sat on the top deck of my house with a tripod and a laundry basket and rattled off a little over 200 images … most of which came out Jet Black! But the ones that didn’t were a real treat!

Caution…. I DO NOT recomend sitting on a roof during a lightning show to capture images!!!
